· Dartington Playgoers’ Summer production will be Jez Butterworth’s hugely acclaimed, prize-winning play JERUSALEM, by Jez Butterworth, directed by Ceni Wyatt. A comic, contemporary vision of life in England’s green and pleasant land. On St George’s Day, the morning of the local country fair, Johnny ‘Rooster’ Byron, local waster and Lord of Misrule, is a wanted man. The council officials want to serve him an eviction notice, his son wants to be taken to the fair, a vengeful father wants to give him a serious kicking, and a motley crew of mates wants his ample supply of drugs and alcohol. “Rooster Byron isn’t just a man living on the fringes of society’ he’s a thousand stories that polite society doesn’t want to listen to.” This will be an outdoor, open-air production - there is no wet-weather alternative, so audiences must come prepared! Bring your own seating or a rug..... Hopefully we will have a great night as the stars glow over Dartington. Tickets are available from the Dartington Box Office or click here.
